Induction-based cell phone charging technology is nothing new, but the 2013 Dodge Dart will be the first production vehicle to debut the feature when the car hits showrooms this summer.
?
The Mopar-sourced setup is a $200 dealer-installed option, and includes several specifically-designed cases?that?fit iPhones, Blackberries, and MP3 players. Devices will automatically start charging when placed on a small pad just under the A/C controls in the center console.
?
The system only works when the engine is running (and will certainly be available elsewhere soon), but the feature is nonetheless a potentially significant differentiator for the Dart's youngish target market-- not to mention neat freak adults.
