Asheville Wine and Food Festival | Asheville Sojourner

Whether you?re a frequent visitor to Asheville or have heard nice things about it, there is one sure-fire way to check the box labeled ?Find out about the food and wine in Asheville? and to come out equipped like a local. The Asheville Wine and Food Festival, August 25th . If you love Asheville restaurants, food and wine, you?ll love this event. Like each of Asheville?s frequent festivals which include Belle Chere, LAAFF (Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival), etc., each shows a different dimension of this deeply cultural city.

AVL Wine Tasting

This year?s festival may be the largest gathering of its kind, a significant point for Asheville. Held inside the newly renovated U.S. Cellular Center, this year?s festival will offer more than 300 wines, tastings from some of Asheville?s most celebrated and internationally recognized chefs, and samples of local artisan food products such as Lusty Monk Mustard and Imladris Farm jams. But, there are underpinnings to this year?s event that give Ashevillains a little extra umph.

This year?s festival may be made a little more notable for the recent news that the two largest micro-brewing companies in the world will establish operations in Asheville; Sierra Nevada Brewing and New Belgium brewing company. The TV Show host, Anthony Bourdain made his way through town this past year, perhaps putting a little extra spotlight on Asheville and there is no doubt that the box-office popularity of The Hunger Games puts us on more traveler?s to-do lists. Despite the festival?s name, beer enthusiasts are not to feel left out, by any means. In fact, you?ll be able to discover spirits from the region?s newest distilleries which include several new home-grown spirits distilleries.
