DIY How To Yarn Wrapped Wreath from DIY and Home ...

Since Hurricane/Superstorm (whatever you want to call it) Sandy, our posts have been very limited. As everyone knows, my car was damaged during the storm, so we have been running around dealing with that. Now that my car is back in action and things are calming down (just in time for the holidays), we?re ready to get back to blogging! Two major things here:

1. I love Pinterest (follow me)!
2. Everything I make, eat, do lately is from Pinterest.

Thus, we get some awesome crafts like the DIY yarn wrapped wreath. You saw it a few months ago when I created my fall-themed DIY yarn wreath. It was so easy and I think it came out looking pretty great. Many of our readers loved it too, so of course I had to make one for Christmas! Here is another quick run down on the steps.

Here?s what you?ll need to make your own DIY yarn wreath:

1. Your choice of yarn colors (you could do this for any season, but we?re doing fall right now)!
2. Foam wreath
3. Flower accents (the original tutorial ?DIY?d? the flowers, but I just snagged these pre-made ones at Michael?s)
4. Scissors
5. Hot glue gun

You start by simply wrapping yarn around the foam wreath. Start with one color and continue your pattern all the way around, keeping each color about 2 ? 3 inches apart. You could use any amount of colors, but I opted for three.

To transition from one color to another, I just tied the one color onto the next to make a little knot and proceeded to wrap.

Once you?ve made it all the way around the wreath, tuck the last strand of yarn somewhere or glue it down for reinforcement. Then, just use a bit of hot glue to add your flower accents and you?re all set!

Same exact instructions for the fall-themed version, however, this time I used Christmas colors and Christmas accents. I opted for a nice little pine/frosted berry arrangement, plus some little gold poinsettias.

Aside from crafting, we?ve been decorating for the holidays as well. Andrew took care of the outside lights and I am usually the Executive Director of all things tree-related (I take after my Mother, the original ?Tree Nazi?). There was just one thing missing?a tree topper! We?ve used various ornaments in the past to top the tree, but this time we wanted an actual star. Until we get a larger tree down the road, we can?t really do a large, lit topper. Thus, we opted for this $1!! topper from target. I think it?s just what the tree doctor ordered
